History

The Tolka/Tolfk Orthodox Church was built between 1876 and 1878 according to the plans of architect Robert August Pflug and is one of more than 10 Orthodox churches he built.

In 1938, the priest Fr. Stūrītis served there. In 1944, during World War II, it was hit by an artillery shell and partially destroyed.

Today

Today, only the walls of the church have survived. The red bricks, characteristic of the region, together with the shapes of the old frame and the trees and bushes emerging from the walls and roof, contribute to preserving its historical charm.
